A serene self catering getaway tucked within the lush flora of the Cape Peninsula situated near Simons Town, Western Cape.
Perched between the mountains and the ocean, Cape Point Villa and Cottage boasts magical sunrises, a waterfall and swooping mountain views.
Cape Point Villa and Cottage is one of Cape Town’s environmental and historic treasures. The villa, with its commanding and uninterrupted view of False Bay and with the mountainside as a dramatic backdrop, is a national monument which has been lovingly restored by its current owners. The stone cottage is a charming hideaway, tucked into the wooded ravine, carved by the mountain stream that provides the establishment with pure mountain water, for this sparkling diamond is completely off the grid. Not only does the water come from the mountainside but the energy to power both cottage and villa comes from the sun. The place has been eco-friendly since its initial construction over a hundred years ago, except that a state of the art solar system providing hot water, lighting, internet connectivity and refrigeration has been added to the gas lamps and the candles.
All these mod-cons do not detract in any way from a feeling of faraway wilderness, since Cape Point Villa and Cottage is surrounded by sea, mountain and fynbos. It is one of the anchor properties in the 37 hectare Castle Rock Conservancy where large stands of invasive alien plants have been removed so that the property has been transformed into a natural garden, as pristine and full of birdsong and secretive creatures as it was in the 1700’s when the Hugo family tethered their horses in the ravine to go hunting, fishing and exploring in and around the area.
The villa is a modernized historical double-storey home with two bedrooms and a large open-plan lounge. The villa can sleep a maximum of 5 guests. Upstairs and downstairs decks and huge sliding doors provide 360 degree views of False Bay and the towering mountains of the Deep South Peninsula. The inviting kitchen is fully equipped and the living area comes with large couches and a generous wood fire, big enough to cook in, tucked into a charming alcove near the kitchen.
The Villa is fully equipped with a gas hob, fridge, Wireless Internet, a Weber braai and basic refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits).
The cottage is a candle-lit hideaway, tucked into the mountainside with stunning views of mountain and sea. It sleeps a maximum of 3 guests in one bedroom and a 3/4 bed in the living room. There is an open plan bathroom with a lovely ball and claw bath. The kitchen and dining room are open plan, with a cosy wood fire that warms the beautiful stone walls.
